Day three was our day to go to Animal Kingdom. It was also an Extra Magic Hour day for us, which meant the park opened an hour early for resort guests. Great -we have to get up even earlier than normal to fight the crowds at "rope drop" (ie. park opening..).
So, we all got up at the crack of dawn, threw on some clothes, packed our bags, and headed to the bus stop. This must have been our lucky day! We were waiting for the Animal Kingdom bus and a resort van happened to be parked in front of us. We jokingly asked th driver how much it would cost us for a ride to Animal Kingdom. He said he can't take money, but he would be happy to drop us off at Animal Kingdom. Yippee!!! We all piled into the van, along with another lucky family, and headed off to Animal Kingdom. We made it there quickly and raced to Kilamanjaro Safaris. We walked through the maze of turnstiles and waited for only a couple minutes before boarding our safari bus. Since it is cooler in the morning, we were able to see a lot of the animals actually moving around rather than just sleeping in the shade. It was a nice way to start the day. After the safari, we headed to the Festival of the Lion King show. Similar to the Broadway version of the Lion King, there is lots of singing and dancing, and Liv seemed to enjoy it. By now, it was time for an early lunch. We grabbed a quick bite to eat, (Liv eating only her peanut butter and jelly sandwich that I packed for her...) and then headed to Finding Nemo, the Musical. This show was awesome! Liv and I both loved it! By the time the show ended, it was already smoking hot out, as usual. (Did I mention that besides being at 100% capacity, it was also record high temperatures for Florida???) Liv played at the Boneyard for awhile, then let me take a couple pictures of her so that we could prove that we were actually at Animal Kingdom. After that, we decided to go the Tree of Life and check out It's Tough to Be a Bug! Bad decision....This is a 3-D show where bugs of all sorts fly right at you, a stink bug shoots stinky air at you, and some giant spider sprays venom (actually water) on you, while you watch an extremey loud show. Oh, and did I mention the swarm of bees that flies directly at you?? Needless to say Livvy was completely terrified, and screaming through the entire show. I took off her 3-D goggles hoping to lessen the scare factor, but it didn't actually seem to help. She was so traumatized by this production that we decided to call it a day and head back to the cabin.
Back at the cabin, our golf cart was waiting for us. Thank God! No more riding the bus to the bus stop or walking 10 minutes in the pouring rain. The kids loved the golf cart! We decided to take it for a spin to the pool. This more than made up for the horrible Bug's Life Show, and the early events of the day were soon forgotten. We relaxed in the kiddie pool, and then Liv went down the kiddie water slide about a hundred times. Now this is what vacation should be all about! After lounging at the pool for awhile, we headed to Downtown Disney for some dinner and shopping.
We browsed through a few stores, although our sole purpose of shopping was to find Once Upon a Toy, where we could fill boxes with Mr. Potato Heads and his parts, or My LIttle Ponies and accessories. I filled a small box with as much My Little Pony stuff as possible, while Liv played nicely with Mr. Potato Head. Then we headed to Early of Sandwich to grab dinner to take back to the cabin. Let me just say, Earl of Sandwich was the best food of our entire trip, including the $90 breakfast at Cinderella's Castle (details later...) All I can say is YUM!
