Last weekend we went to our friends cabin on Higgins Lake for the weekend. Although it wasn't relaxing like she promised, (how could it be with 6 children 3 and under???), it was a wonderful weekend getaway. Since we spend every waking moment either taking care of children, working, trying to keep our house remotely tidied up, or unpacking, it was a nice treat to take a few days off from the humdrum life of ours and just get away. The cabin is wonderful, with lots of things for the kids to do. The scenery is absolutely beautiful, and a wonderful change of pace from our regular home life. Although we didn't actually swim in the lake, we did set up a little pool for the kids and they got to play and splash. Olivia loved walking in the woods, and exploring every bit of nature that she could. She loved picking up rocks, and leaves, and sticks, and anything else she could get her hands on. The kids were all very well behaved, considering this was a new environment for all of them. The best part is we ate or meals at the dining hall, so there was no cooking or cleanup. If that doesn't seem like such a big deal, trying eating a meal with six toddlers who somehow manage to get more on the floor than they actually get in their mouths!
