Since we aren't really taking a vacation this year, (well, Livvy and I are going to Disney, but we aren't ALL going anywhere...) we took a few days off and decided to do some "daycations". Our first trip little outing was to Great Lakes Crossings. The idea was that we would go to Jeepers!, which has a few small rides, to try to get Liv ready for Disney. Well, the rides were a little bigger than expected, and needless to say, Olivia wanted no part of any of it. I think Sophie may have been a better choice for Disney since she likes rides and loves giant characters! Anyways we decided to skip Jeepers! and we headed to the food court. They have a giant play are that the kids could climb and jump, so they had a blast running around. Of course we did some shopping, too. Everyone got new Sleeping Beauty towels and flip flops from the Disney store, and they also got some new summer clothes for next year, too. As disappointed as I was in Olivia's reaction to the rides, I was thrilled with her reaction to the Disney store. She was SO excited about everything. "Oh - Look at this dress, mama! Oooh, look at this princess doll, and oh, did you see that Tinkerbell wand??" She LOVED the Disney store, and probably could have spent hours perusing, but Maddie and Sophie weren't nearly as impressed.
We all went to dinner at the Rainforest Cafe, which was really fun. The girls were in awe of the giant crocodile, and the snake, and the cheetah, and the elephants, and....you get the idea! Livvy didn't even freak out as much as I expected when the giant frog came around to say hi. Maddie and Sophie couldn't stop waving to him, "Hi Froggy!" they both chanted as they waved excitedly every time he walked by our table. Livvy enjoyed her dino nuggets, and Maddie and Sophie liked their pizza, so it was a fun dinner for all of us.
By the time we left, it was almost time for bed. Olivia and Madeline decided to have a screaming match half the way home. "You the bad girl!" "I not bad - you bad!!" for about 30 minutes. (It felt like 3 hours!!!) Sophie slept through the fighting, and we just ignored them. Finally, everyone ended up falling asleep in the car on the way home.
All in all, it was a great day!
